Gov’t assures of ARV supply

DODOMA: THE Ministry of Health has dismissed reports circulating on social media about a shortage of antiretroviral (ARV) drugs, leading some to request extra supplies for stockpiling.
In a statement issued on Saturday, by the ministry’s Head of Government Communications Ms Roida Andusamile assured the public that ARV drugs remain available and free of charge.
The ministry warned that the misinformation had caused unnecessary panic among users,
“These reports are misleading and have created fear among the public, with some patients now seeking long-term supplies for storage, which is not necessary,” the statement read.

“The government, through the Ministry of Health, reassures the public that ARV drugs are available in sufficient quantities and remain free of charge. Users have no reason to worry about access to these essential medicines,” the statement added.
Additionally, it stated that the government continues to implement appropriate measures to ensure uninterrupted access to these essential medications.
Furthermore, the ministry urged the public to disregard the false information and adhere to prescribed treatment plans to prevent drug resistance.
“The ministry calls on the public to ignore these misleading reports and continue taking their medication as directed by healthcare professionals,” the statement concluded.
