Kilombero Sugar strengthens ties with local stakeholders at 2025 summit

MOROGORO: Kilombero Sugar Company recently hosted its Local Stakeholder Engagement Summit, bringing together newly elected local government leaders and key stakeholders from the Kilombero Valley.

The summit aimed to strengthen relationships, enhance communication, and foster collaboration for sustainable business growth.

Held at the company’s headquarters, the summit provided a platform to onboard new leaders and discuss critical topics such as the progress of the K4 Expansion Project, the company’s broader business strategy, and the creation of a comprehensive stakeholder database to streamline engagement and information-sharing.

District Commissioner for Kilombero, Mr Dunstan Kyobya representing the Regional Commissioner for Morogoro, expressed his appreciation for Kilombero Sugar’s commitment to collaboration with local stakeholders.

“Kilombero Sugar’s commitment to transparency and open communication is commendable.
This approach is essential in building trust and ensuring that all stakeholders remain well-informed about the company’s operations and future plans,” he stated.

He also emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and urged AMCOS members and village leaders to plant 5,000 trees, securing commitments of support from AWF, Reforest Africa, and the Tanzania Forest Services (TFS).

The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation and Member of Parliament for Mikumi Constituency, Mr Denis Londo highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong cooperative relationship between the community and Kilombero Sugar.

He emphasized that this partnership should be nurtured to address community matters through shared values.

The Kilombero Sugar’s Corporate Affairs Director, Mr. Derick Stanley, underscored the importance of open dialogue and transparency in building sustainable partnerships.

“This summit provides a unique opportunity for us at Kilombero Sugar to align with local government leaders and stakeholders on key business developments.

By working together, we can drive sustainable economic growth that benefits both the company and the communities we serve,” said Mr Stanley.

The Communications and Stakeholder Relations Manager for Kilombero Sugar, Mr Victor Byemelwa said the summit aimed at introducing newly elected leaders to Kilombero Sugar to foster relationships for effective collaboration.

Also providing insights into the progress and long-term strategy of the expansion aimed at increasing sugar production and supporting local economic growth.

He added that it aimed at establishing a structured database with detailed stakeholder information to improve communication and engagement.

Furthermore to updating stakeholders about the company’s achievements through the quarterly report.

By strengthening collaboration with local stakeholders, Kilombero Sugar reinforces its commitment to sustainable business practices and community development.
