Coach Medo has bold belief in Mpole

KAGERA: KAGERA Sugar’s head coach, Melis Medo, has expressed strong confidence in his new striker, George Mpole.

Medo said he believed that Mpole has the potential to make a significant impact as the team fights to avoid relegation from the Tanzanian Premier League.

In an interview with the ‘Daily News’, Medo underscored that Mpole will be a crucial asset for Kagera Sugar, especially as they face the tough challenge of survival in the second half of the season.

Currently sitting in 15th place with just 11 points, the team is in desperate need of a boost to stay in the top-flight league. Mpole, who joined Kagera Sugar from Pamba Jiji during the January transfer window, is no stranger to success.

The 2021/22 Premier League top scorer with 17 goals one more than Yanga’s Fiston Mayele arrives with a reputation for clinical finishing and the ability to shine in highpressure situations.

“George Mpole is an experienced striker who has proven his worth as the top scorer in the league before. He has the ability to cause major damage in crucial areas on the field. This is a vital weapon for our team, as we need a player who can create opportunities and finish chances,” Medo said.

The coach also noted that Mpole’s presence could provide the leadership and mental toughness required for Kagera Sugar’s survival bid.

“We need players like him, those who are not afraid to fight until the final whistle and know how to make the most of every opportunity. This is the quality we need to escape our current position,” Medo stressed.

In addition to Mpole, Kagera Sugar has also introduced another new face in goalkeeper Ahmed Feruzi, who joins on loan from Simba.

Medo believes that Feruzi’s arrival will strengthen the team’s defensive line, providing further support as they look to stay afloat in the league.

With these new signings, Kagera Sugar is gearing up for a crucial second half of the season.
