TZ deploys 5,754 peacekeepers to international missions
DODOMA: TANZANIA has made significant strides in economic diplomacy, regional trade and national security, including contributing to global peace through the deployment of 5,754 peacekeepers to international missions.
Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said this over the weekend while presenting achievement attained in implementation of the ruling party CCM Election Manifesto in the past four years.
“Our commitment to fostering global peace and security is complemented by our determination to strengthen diplomatic and trade ties,” the Prime Minister stated during the party’s Extraordinary General Meeting in Dodoma, where he underscored Tanzania’s growing influence on the global stage.
Mr Majaliwa also noted that the government has been proactive in expanding its diplomatic presence, opening two new embassies and two consulates-general and nurturing partnerships with countries across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
He further revealed that during that period, trade between Tanzania and East African Community (EAC) member states has risen by 61.1 per cent, a reflection of efforts to eliminate trade barriers and promote regional integration.

The Prime Minister also said that the government has stepped up efforts to promote Kiswahili as a language of diplomacy, aiming to enhance Tanzania’s cultural and diplomatic influence globally.
“Tanzania’s international engagements have led to strategic agreements, including the ratification of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which grants Tanzanian businesses access to a market of 1.3 billion people across the continent,” he added.
Domestically, the government has focused on strengthening unity and security by modernising the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) and other security agencies.
Mr Majaliwa noted improvements in public services, including the issuance of more national IDs and identification numbers and efforts to streamline immigration and administrative processes.
Under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Tanzania has hosted highprofile visits, including that of the former US Vice-President Kamala Harris in March 2023, along with numerous leaders from Africa and Asia.
President Samia’s philosophy of economic diplomacy has bolstered Tanzania’s global position through trade, investment and economic development.
She has actively used international conferences, working visits and discussions with global leaders to attract foreign investment and foster economic cooperation.
As a result, Tanzania has witnessed rapid growth in sectors such as mining, tourism, agriculture and energy, with numerous new projects emerging. President Samia’s efforts have positioned Tanzania as a leading trade hub in East Africa and globally, enhancing infrastructure and diplomatic ties.
This has cemented Tanzania’s reputation as a politically stable country with a favourable investment climate and a rapidly growing economy.
PM Majaliwa further said that President Samia has promoted strong democratic foundations and good governance through her “4R” philosophy, which focuses on Reconciliation, Resilience, Reforms and Rebuilding. These initiatives have not gone unnoticed.
Tanzania was recently invited to attend a major mining investment conference in Perth, Australia, further solidifying its global standing as a prime destination for mining investment.
This success is attributed to the strong cooperative relationships between Tanzania and countries worldwide, including Australia, cultivated by President Samia’s leadership in global economic diplomacy.
Tanzania has also hosted numerous bilateral meetings, strengthening cooperation in trade, education and security. In return, President Samia has undertaken several international trips to deepen the country’s global ties.
Noteworthy visits include her state visit to India in October 2023, where multiple agreements were signed and her participation in the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) as well as a high profile visit to South Korea in June last year.
