Jealousy kills two women in Mwanza

MWANZA: TWO women, residents of Kwimba District and Ilemela Municipality in Mwanza Region, have been killed by their partners over alleged jealousy.

Mwanza Regional Police Commander Mr Wilbrod Mutafungwa spoke on the incidents yesterday while addressing journalists.

Mr Mutafungwa said Leticia Samwel (46), a resident of Nyagungulu was killed by a person who is suspected to be her husband, Cornellio Kuboja (39), due to jealousy. The incident occurred on December 14th this year at around 6 am at Nyagungulu Street, Ilemela Ward, Ilemela Municipality.

In another incident, the RPC said Wella Mayunga (48), a resident of Jojiro village in Kwimba District, was killed by her husband, Makoye Machiya (49), also due to jealousy.

The incident occurred on December 15th this year at around 10pm at Jojiro Village, Ng’hundi Ward in Kwimba District.

Moreover, Mr Mutafungwa reported that a five-yearold child, Lubinza Leonard, a kindergarten pupil at Matela Primary School in Nyanguge Ward, Magu District, died after being struck by a large rock that fell from a hillside due to ongoing rains.

The incident occurred on December 17th this year at around 8:30am, when the rock rolled down the hill, hitting the child on the head killing him instantly.

“The body has undergone a postmortem and has been handed over to the family for burial,” he said.
