Tabora United topple Azam

TABORA: TABORA United once again made a spectacular rise and shocked another giant in the Mainland Premier League, this time sending Azam FC to a 2-1 defeat at the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora on Friday.

The excitement was palpable for Tabora United, as they notched up their seventh win in the league, while also extending their unbeaten streak to six matches — with five wins and one draw.

One of the most remarkable victories was a 3-1 triumph over defending champions Yanga, showcasing their impressive form.

The star of the match for Tabora was none other than Heritier Makambo, who stole the show with a stunning brace, both goals coming in the second half.

On the other side, Azam FC, despite suffering stings, showed resilience and fought back. Their efforts bore fruit when Yoro Diaby scored a fine header, connecting beautifully with a set-piece from Feisal Salum to pull one back.

For Tabora, this victory was particularly sweet, securing their fifth-place spot with 24 points and ending Azam’s seven-match winning streak, though Azam still leads the league with 30 points.
