Deputy Speaker: Embrace digital transformation

DAR ES SALAAM: DEPUTY Speaker of Parliament Mussa Zungu has reiterated the importance of digital transformation for Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) to remain competitive in the global market.

He urged these businesses to adopt modern technologies and digital solutions, saying that embracing innovation is crucial for enhancing productivity and reaching a broader customer base.

Mr. Zungu said by leveraging digital tools, MSMEs can better navigate challenges and seize opportunities in an increasingly interconnected economy.

“In today’s rapidly evolving environment, embracing digital tools is essential for unlocking business potential,” the Deputy Speaker said at the Kariakoo Festival in Dar es Salaam, sponsored by NMB Bank.

“Purchases can now be made online, eliminating the need for physical visits to markets like Kariakoo,” he said.

He said for example fears surrounding the introduction of ride-hailing services did not materialise, as the taxi industry adapted rather than collapsed.

NMB Bank’s Dar es Salaam Zonal Manager, Mr. Seka Urio echoed this sentiment, reaffirming the bank’s commitment to enhancing financial inclusion.
