UWSA Queens intensify preps for Netball Premier League debut

MBEYA: IN a bid to ensure they excel in their maiden appearance in the netball top-flight league slated to begin early next month, the newly promoted side Mbeya UWSA Queens are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations.

Despite being newcomers to this prestigious league, Mbeya UWSA Queens boasts a commendable track record in various championships.

Notably, their third-place finish in the second division league in Katavi marked a significant achievement, alongside clinching the regional championship title.

Team Manager, Meshack Nyuha expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to compete at the highest level in the upcoming league, which will be hosted in the Arusha region from August 1st.

“This is our first foray into the top-flight league in the country, but we are well-prepared. Since securing promotion, we’ve maintained a rigorous training regimen and tailored our preparations precisely,” Nyuha affirmed.

He stressed their ambition as a team to win the championship, noting their thorough internal and external preparation aimed at making history in the league.

However, he also unveiled their respect for other teams in the league, especially the experienced ones, but emphasized their fearlessness with the squad they’ve assembled.

Echoing Nyuha’s sentiments, team captain, Coletha Fungo highlighted the unity forged during their intensive training camps.

“Staying together has strengthened our bond and allowed us to identify and address our weaknesses. We’re eagerly anticipating the opportunity to showcase our skills on the court,” Fungo remarked.

Fungo appealed for support from stakeholders, underscoring their commitment to representing the Mbeya region with pride.

“With the backing of our supporters, we aim to make a significant impact in the league. Our preparation has been thorough, and we’re ready for the challenge ahead,” she concluded.

As Mbeya UWSA Queens gear up for their inaugural campaign in the national spotlight, expectations are high for a spirited display of talent and determination from this ambitious team.
