Oliveira lauds Simba bravery, Ruvu demoted
SIMBA Coach Roberto Oliveira said he was thrilled with the 3-0 victory while Ruvu Shooting trainer Mbwana Makata blamed lack of quality in his squad for the loss that plunged the team deep into relegation pit.
The outcome at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam on Friday evening officially bid farewell to Ruvu Shooting who will be playing in the Championship league next season.
It was the first team to be officially relegated this season.
Goals from Clatous Chama and a brace by substitute Pape Sakho steered the Msimbazi Street Reds to a comfortable victory on the day with two matches remaining before the end of the season.
In a post-match briefing, the Brazilian coach reiterated that the victory was very important to his side as they want to win all their remaining fixtures of the elapsing campaign.
“We have already made a plan to win all our upcoming games in order to finish the season well. I am happy with the performance showcased by players and I hope we will do the same in the upcoming two games,” he said.
Again, Oliveira hailed good cooperation he is getting at the club insisting that Simba is his family and that everyone including players are happy to be part of this big club.
On his part, Makata conceded the defeat saying quality in Simba squad is what defined the match on the day and that being relegated is a big lesson to them.
“Of course, with these results, we have been eliminated in the premier league and we are now heading to the championship league. I think lack of quality players in our team has heavily contributed us to be relegated,” he said.
Meanwhile, Simba Chairman of Board of Directors Salim Abdallah ‘Try Again’ has apologised to the club’s fraternity for the poor performance they have recorded this season vowing to bounce back stronger next season.
He added that nobody should be held responsible for the unconvincing ride of the season since decisions to recruit players and other members of the club were made by not one person but rather in cooperation.
“Indeed, this season has been tough to us but it should be noted that we are a big club and that in the upcoming campaign, we are going to improve different areas so that we can be competitive enough to challenge for titles,” he said.
Again, the chairman said plans to inject new technical bench members to provide necessary support to coach Oliveira are at advanced stage.
