Tanzania issues oil and gas exploration licences for Mnazi Bay, Songo Songo, Eyasi Wembere, Lindi-Mtwara blocks

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Energy Minister Dr Juma Homera has signed four oil and gas exploration licences for the Mnazi Bay North, West Songo Songo, Eyasi Wembere and Lindi-Mtwara blocks, in a move aimed at strengthening the role and responsibilities of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) in oil and gas exploration.

The licences were signed during a ceremony held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam. The event was attended by Vice-President Deogratius Ndejembi, Ministry of Energy Permanent Secretary James Mataragio, Ilala District Commissioner Edward Mpogolo and Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals Chairperson Subira Mgalu.

Other attendees included regional chairpersons of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), heads of various public and government institutions, representatives of banking institutions and development partners.
