Businesses smell fortunes in newly signed Swiss-Tanzania Chamber of Commerce deal

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIAN businesses are expected to benefit from new international market opportunities, investment prospects and commercial partnerships following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Tanzania National Chamber of Commerce (TNCC) and the Swiss-Tanzania Chamber of Commerce (STCC).
The agreement aims to strengthen economic ties between Tanzania and Switzerland by connecting businesses and companies from both countries, expanding market access, facilitating the exchange of business information and expertise, building the capacity of members, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to compete in international markets.
Speaking on the significance of the agreement, Swiss-Tanzania Chamber of Commerce Managing Director Mathieu Rochat said the partnership would strengthen trade and investment relations through business networks, trade platforms and the implementation of joint initiatives.
TNCC Chief Executive Officer Oscar Kissanga said the agreement presented an important opportunity for Tanzanian businesses to expand their networks, explore new markets and learn best business practices from international markets.

He added that the partnership also seeks to promote SMEs, encourage innovation, attract investment and strengthen the private sector’s contribution to Tanzania’s economic growth.
Under the MoU, the two chambers plan to collaborate in organising trade missions, exhibitions and investment forums, facilitating business-to-business connections, and implementing joint projects to promote trade and investment between Tanzania and Switzerland.
