Dodoma Stadium first tier takes shape with 1,700 beams
DODOMA: CONSTRUCTION of Dodoma Stadium has reached the installation of steel supports for the first tier of spectator stands, with around 1,700 sections planned for the level, according to Permanent Secretary Gerson Msigwa of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sport.
Msigwa said workers had installed the beam line around the first-tier circumference, while work continued to position the steel sections that will support the seating platforms. Each section weighs approximately 2.7 tonnes, requiring machinery to lift and position the components as construction progresses.
“The first tier will have approximately 1,700 of these beams around the stadium, while the second tier will require even more because it will be larger,” Msigwa said.

Msigwa made the comments as work continued at the site on Saturday, with construction activities also taking place at night and throughout the weekend in an effort to keep the project moving.
Msigwa said the installation process involved foreign engineers working alongside Tanzanian personnel, thereby providing local workers with practical experience in modern stadium construction. The government intends to use that expertise in future stadium projects planned for Mwanza, Mbeya, Tanga and other cities.
He added that Dodoma and Arusha stadiums were expected to become among the leading sporting venues in East Africa, pointing to the progress already made on the Arusha project, where work is at the final finishing stage.
