Addressing students and academics at the university, Ambassador Tembele highlighted the historical development of relations between Tanzania and Indonesia, while also examining the role of the 1955 Bandung Conference in strengthening solidarity between African and Asian countries.

During the lecture, Ambassador Tembele also examined Tanzania–Indonesia relations through various perspectives and theories of International Relations. He emphasised that shared values, historical friendship and the principles established by the Bandung Conference have remained important pillars in strengthening relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Tembele further discussed the concept of “Bandung 2.0,” highlighting the importance of building on the historical foundations of cooperation by moving from political liberation towards economic liberation.
He noted that this transition could be advanced through increased trade and investment, technology cooperation and economic diplomacy between Tanzania and Indonesia.

Following the lecture, students had an opportunity to ask questions and contribute to discussions on various issues raised during the presentation. The interactive session enabled Ambassador Tembele to provide further insights into Tanzania–Indonesia relations, as well as the role of the two countries in broader International Relations debates and frameworks.
The lecture forms part of the efforts by the Embassy of Tanzania in Indonesia to strengthen the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Tanzania and Indonesia, particularly in the areas of education, knowledge exchange, mutual understanding and cooperation for the benefit of both countries.
