Mkumbo courts Dutch investors to Tz

THE HAGUE: Tanzania has invited Dutch investors to tap into opportunities in manufacturing, agro-processing and value addition as the country seeks to attract more investment and technology to strengthen domestic production.
Minister of State in the President’s Office—Planning and Investment, Prof Kitila Mkumbo, made the call in The Hague on October 5, 2026, saying Tanzania’s strategic geographical position, infrastructure and access to surrounding markets make it an important production, trade and distribution hub for Africa and beyond.
Prof Mkumbo said the government was prioritising investments that add value to crops and natural resources rather than exporting raw materials, a move aimed at strengthening manufacturing, creating jobs, expanding trade and driving economic growth.
He said the government was also improving the business and investment environment by simplifying services for investors and creating conditions that enable the private sector to play a greater role in national development.
Prof Mkumbo cited Tanzania’s peace and political stability, abundant resources and strategic position in East and Southern Africa as factors that make the country an attractive destination for investors seeking access to Tanzania and wider African markets.
The meeting was part of Tanzania’s investment promotion tour of Europe, which began in Helsinki, Finland, on September 28 before moving to Italy and the Netherlands. The tour is also part of preparations for the Tanzania–European Union Business and Investment Forum expected to be held in Dar es Salaam in 2027, with Tanzania seeking to turn investment discussions into new capital, technology and concrete projects in the country.
