Dr Mwinyi jets off for Qatar in a mission to unlock new investment opportunities for Zanzibar

ZANZIBAR: PRESIDENT of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, leaves  the country today, October 7, 2026, for Doha, Qatar, as part of a working visit aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and opening up new development and investment opportunities for Zanzibar.

Upon arrival in Doha, President Mwinyi is expected to be received by Tanzania’s Ambassador to Qatar, Habibu Awesi Mohamed. During his stay, the President will meet with international investors and business leaders to discuss investment opportunities available in Zanzibar and Tanzania, particularly in tourism and other strategic sectors.

The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening economic cooperation, attracting investment and expanding opportunities for trade and employment.

After completing his programme in Qatar, President Mwinyi will travel to Madrid, Spain, on October 9, 2026, where he is expected to meet international stakeholders in investment, football development and youth talent development.

The engagements are also expected to contribute to expanding Zanzibar’s international partnerships and creating new opportunities for economic and social development.
