Tourism agents tour Zanzibar in mission to cement business ties between Tanzania and Indian market

ZANZIBAR: THIRTEEN tourism agents from India have recently visited Zanzibar as part of a special familiarization trip aimed at promoting Tanzania’s tourism attractions and strengthening business ties between Tanzania’s tourism sector and the Indian market.

The visit was organised by the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) in collaboration with the Embassy of Tanzania in India. The agents had an opportunity to explore various attractions in Zanzibar, including Forodhani, where they also witnessed entertainment and cultural performances by young people at the popular Makachu area.

The agents also met with tourism operators in Zanzibar through Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings. The meetings focused on building business relationships, exchanging experiences and exploring opportunities for cooperation in marketing tourism packages to Indian travellers that combine Zanzibar with other destinations across Tanzania.

The visit is part of the Tanzanian government’s efforts to expand the Indian tourism market, which is among the key source markets for tourists visiting Tanzania.

During their stay, the agents also visited other major tourism destinations in the country, including the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Serengeti National Park.
