VETA wins top award at Mining Technology Exhibition

GEITA: THE Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) has emerged the overall winner among education institutions participating in the Ninth Mining Technology Exhibition held in Geita.
VETA secured first place in the education institutions category, followed by the College of Business Education (CBE) in second place and Shinyanga College of Health Sciences in third.
The awards were presented yesterday by the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Vice-President (Union), Dr Latifa Hamis Mohamed.

The exhibition, which began on September 23 at Dkt Samia Suluhu Hassan Grounds, Bombambili, Geita, provided VETA with a platform to showcase training programmes related to the mining sector, as well as innovations and technologies developed by its instructors and students.

The innovations were aimed at addressing challenges facing the mining sector and the wider economy in the Lake Zone.
Speaking on the achievement, VETA Public Relations and Marketing Manager Sitta Peter said the award reflected the authority’s efforts to strengthen its contribution to the mining sector and other areas of the economy.
He said the recognition demonstrated the importance VETA places on skills development, innovation and technology in addressing practical challenges facing different economic sectors.

The Ninth Mining Technology Exhibition brought together institutions and stakeholders to showcase technologies, innovations and services linked to the mining industry.
