Arusha sees works on roads linking to the AFCON stadium hit 60 percent completion

ARUSHA: THE construction and upgrading of roads linking various areas to the AFCON stadium in Arusha has reached more than 60 percent, in a move aimed at improving transport and boosting economic activities in areas surrounding the stadium.
The project, being implemented by the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA), involves the construction and upgrading of a total of 21.4 kilometres of roads in Essuri, Lendita and Mateves as part of Tanzania’s preparations to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

According to a statement issued by TARURA in September this year, the agency’s Arusha Regional Manager, Engineer Nicholas Francis, said implementation of the project had surpassed 60 percent and was expected to be completed by May 2027.
In Essuri, the project involves the construction of a 2.45km road and a 100m long bridge. Meanwhile, the 2.75km Lendita road is being constructed as a four-lane road.
