Airtel Tanzania reaffirms commitment to technology and innovation towards Vision 2050

ARUSHA: Airtel Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing technology and innovation as part of efforts to support the implementation of Tanzania’s National Development Vision 2050.
The telecommunications company made the commitment during the C-CEOs Forum 2026 held in Arusha from September 28 to 30, where it participated as the Communications Sponsor.
The forum brought together Board members, Chief Executive Officers and heads of various institutions to discuss ways of strengthening institutional performance and enhancing their contribution to the country’s development agenda.
Organised by the Treasury Registrar, the forum brought together leaders from public corporations, institutions in which the Government holds shares, companies and universities.
Discussions focused on institutional efficiency, collaboration and the use of technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), to support economic and social development.
Speaking during the forum, Airtel Tanzania Managing Director, Charles Kamoto, said technology and innovation are key drivers of development, adding that continued investment will be essential to advancing the country’s Vision 2050.
“We are excited to be part of this journey because we know that technology and innovation will play a major role in achieving Vision 2050. For us, achieving this vision means investing significantly to ensure that every Tanzanian is connected, that businesses and families are connected, and that we build a more prosperous and connected nation by 2050,” said Kamoto.
Beyond technology and connectivity, Airtel has been implementing community initiatives aimed at expanding access to digital learning and strengthening technology skills among students and teachers.
Airtel Tanzania Director of Corporate Communications and Regulatory Affairs, Beatrice Singano, said the initiatives are part of the company’s efforts to contribute to building a skilled workforce capable of thriving in the digital economy.
Through the Airtel SmartWasomi programme, implemented in partnership with UNICEF, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Communication, Airtel has connected 534 schools to reliable internet connectivity, benefiting more than 381,162 students and 9,700 teachers.
The programme enables students and teachers to access digital learning resources and use technology to support teaching and learning.
