Tanzania and Russia agree to cement ties in digital technology, , mining, trade, blue economy, tourism, and energy sectors

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian government and the Russian Federation have agreed to strengthen digital cooperation in the economic and development sectors to promote sustainable development for the benefit of their citizens.

The agreement was reached today, September 30,2026,  when Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, held talks with a delegation from the Office of the President of the Russian Federation at the Ministry’s offices in Dar es Salaam.

The delegation was led by Denis Agafonov, Director of Analysis at the Office of the President of the Russian Federation.

During the talks, the two sides agreed to strengthen strategic cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including digital technology, education, health, mining, technology, trade, investment, fisheries, the blue economy, tourism, transport, manufacturing, agriculture and energy.

The cooperation aims to promote sustainable investment, strengthen energy and food security, and expand the use of modern technologies to support development and improve the wellbeing of citizens in both countries.

Speaking at the conclusion of the meeting, head of the Russian delegation Denis Agafonov thanked the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania for its cooperation, which enabled the delegation to meet stakeholders from various sectors and discuss strategies for strengthening collaboration in the implementation of various projects.
