Tanzania hails Gabriel Geay for winning bronze medal at BMW Berlin Marathon

BERLIN: TANZANIA’S Ambassador to Germany, Hassani Iddi Mwamweta, has congratulated Gabriel Geay after the Tanzanian athlete finished third and won a bronze medal at the 2026 BMW Berlin Marathon, held in Berlin on September 27, 2026.

Speaking during a meeting at the Tanzanian Embassy in Berlin, Ambassador Mwamweta described Geay’s achievement as a source of pride and an important recognition for Tanzania, saying it continues to raise the country’s profile on the international athletics stage.

He encouraged Geay to maintain his efforts and aim for victory in future competitions.

The ambassador also told Geay that he had already held discussions with the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports on ways to support efforts to increase the number of Tanzanian athletes participating in various international athletics competitions, including the BMW Berlin Marathon.
