Couples urged to be open, transparent in marriage

DAR ES SALAAM: COUPLES have been urged to cultivate a culture of listening to one another, trust, respect and cooperation in family and economic matters to strengthen marriages and build united families.

The call was made during a Couples Night organised by PIMEA, a platform that seeks to help couples rebuild, restore and strengthen their marriages through biblical teachings and practical wisdom.

Speaking to the Daily News during the event, gospel musician, founder and host of Couples Night, Rev. Dr Christine Robert Mbelwa, said marriage is an important foundation of the family and society, urging couples to be willing to learn and work together in addressing challenges that arise in married life.

She stressed the importance of openness in marriage, particularly when it comes to family finances, urging couples not to hide matters that could negatively affect their relationship.

“We encourage couples to listen to one another, trust each other and work together. Even in financial matters, it is important to be transparent and make decisions jointly for the wellbeing of the family,” she said.

According to Dr Mbelwa, PIMEA provides teachings and practical training to help couples understand how biblical principles and practical wisdom can be applied to build, manage and sustain successful marriages.

She said since the establishment of the platform, they have witnessed couples rebuild their relationships, restore unity and strengthen their marriages through education and the application of the principles taught.

“A strong marriage contributes to a strong family; a strong family contributes to a strong society, and a strong society builds a strong and prosperous nation,” she said.

Dr Mbelwa also urged couples to care for and support one another while seeking solutions to their challenges through dialogue rather than allowing conflicts to undermine their unity.

“Your marriage can become better. Learn, participate and put into practice what you learn so that you can see positive changes in your marriage,” she said.

She further encouraged couples to participate in upcoming Couples Night events to gain knowledge and practical skills that can help strengthen their relationships and build peaceful families.

She said strong marriages ultimately contribute to strong families and a more united and peaceful society.

“Building a strong marriage is building a strong family; building a strong family is building a strong society,” she said.
