Yas supports Dodoma school with essentials

DODOMA: Yas Tanzania has supported Buigiri Primary School in Dodoma with essential supplies to improve the welfare of pupils, including children with visual impairments and albinism and create a more supportive learning environment.
The donation included cooking gas cylinders, rice, beans, cooking oil, laundry soap, body oil and protective hats for children with albinism.
Yas also supported the school’s Standard Seven graduation ceremony, enabling pupils to celebrate an important milestone in their education.
Established in 1950, Buigiri Primary School has a long history of providing education to children with visual impairments and albinism.
Speaking during the handover, Yas Head of Central Zone, Mr Said Idd yesterday that the company supported the school after recognising that access to basic necessities was important in helping pupils remain focused on their studies.
“A child needs more than a classroom to succeed. They also need food and other basic necessities that allow them to learn in a better environment. Our support to Buigiri is about helping meet some of the daily needs and encouraging these children to keep pursuing their education,” he said.
Mr Idd said Yas’ contribution to communities goes beyond providing telecommunications services, noting that the company continues to support initiatives in education, healthcare and other areas of social need.
“When we talk about Mtandao wa Viwango, it is not only about the quality of our network. We also want the communities we serve to feel the impact of our presence,” he said.
Dodoma Education Stakeholders Representative, Ms Jesca Makaula, welcomed the support, saying the donated items would help meet some of the school’s daily needs while encouraging pupils to remain committed to their studies.
“These children have dreams just like any other children. Support like this helps meet some of their essential needs, but it also gives them encouragement to continue with their education. We encourage more stakeholders to come forward and support our schools,” she said.
