CAF inspectors see good progress in Tanzania’s preps for the 2027 AFCON finals

ARUSHA: OFFICIALS from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have conducted an inspection of infrastructure and key services in Arusha as part of preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

During the inspection tour, the CAF delegation assessed various facilities at the Arusha Stadium, including security systems, spectator areas, commercial facilities and other infrastructure essential to hosting and operating the tournament.

The delegation also inspected the Mgambo, Engutoto and Magereza training grounds, as well as first-aid facilities and hospitals that are expected to provide medical services during the tournament.

The inspection forms part of CAF’s assessment of the readiness of infrastructure and essential services required to ensure that Arusha meets the standards for hosting the continental tournament.

The visit was conducted in collaboration with the AFCON 2027 Local Organising Committee, as CAF continues to monitor preparations and assess whether the planned infrastructure and services meet the required standards.

Tanzania is one of three East African countries that will host AFCON 2027, alongside Kenya and Uganda. CAF is conducting infrastructure inspections in all three countries as part of the tournament’s preparations.

The inspections are aimed at ensuring that stadiums, training facilities, security arrangements, healthcare services and other essential infrastructure are ready and meet the requirements for hosting a major African football tournament.
