Umar’s 86 powers RAAH FLTC to big VPL win
DAR ES SALAAM: UMAR Shaikh produced a stunning batting display, smashing an unbeaten 86 off just 30 balls, to guide RAAH FLTC to a commanding 68-run victory over ABC Chunk Boys in the Vidra Premier League (VPL) Season One Night Tournament at Patel Samaj Ground on Wednesday.
Shaikh’s explosive innings included 11 sixes as RAAH FLTC posted an imposing 105 for one in their allotted six overs before restricting ABC Chunk Boys to 37 for four. Alishihab Bhukhari contributed 12 off seven balls before being run out, while Vikesh Kerai remained unbeaten without facing a ball.
Vikesh Kerai was also instrumental with the ball, taking two wickets for just four runs from his over as ABC Chunk Boys struggled to build momentum.
In another match, MAMRA 11 defeated HYCT by 34 runs after posting 60 for five in six overs. Captain Jatin Darji top-scored with 30 off 17 balls, including three sixes, while Ashish Kamania added an unbeaten seven from three deliveries.

HYCT were bowled out for 26 for seven in 5.1 overs, with Paresh Patil and Jatin Darji claiming two wickets each. Paresh Patil was particularly economical, taking two for four from 1.1 overs. FLASHNET CP-A also secured an 11-run victory over Punjab Lions.
FLASHNET CP-A scored 61 for two in six overs, with Amal CP-A leading the way with an unbeaten 35 off 20 balls, including three sixes. Punjab Lions could only manage 50 for three in their six overs despite an unbeaten 22 from Wahidullah Safi.
The three matches formed part of the second night of the inaugural VPL Season One Night Tournament, which began on Tuesday at Patel Samaj Ground. The tournament has brought together 23 teams and approximately 250 players for a month-long competition, with matches being played every night.
Organisers Vishal Patel and Mukesh Suthar said the tournament was progressing well and was meeting its objective of bringing members of the sporting community together. The competition is scheduled to continue through September, with the championship final set for September 25 at Patel Samaj Ground.
