FuTopia Sets Dates for Third Edition in Zanzibar

ZANZIBAR: FUTOPIA Festival has announced the dates for its third edition, with the three-day event set to take place in Fumba Town, Zanzibar, from August 6 to 8, 2027.

The festival, which brings together music, art, culture, ideas, wellbeing and sustainable living, is also inviting musicians, dancers, poets, storytellers, performers, multidisciplinary artists and interactive creators to apply to participate.

The announcement comes after the festival’s second edition drew 3,700 people over two days, with artists and creative contributors from Tanzania and Zanzibar, South Africa, Burundi, Chile, Canada, Morocco and Mexico.

Artists featured across the first two editions include Kenyan singer Bensoul, Tanzanian rapper Rosa Ree, Burundi’s Vania Ice, South Africa’s DJ LAG, Zanzibar’s Hammer Q and Mexico’s La Negra Mexa Y Las Cumbiancheras, among others.

According to organisers, FuTopia is particularly looking for artists who connect with audiences, experiment with new ideas and create participatory experiences.

“We are grateful to everyone who has been part of the FuTopia journey so far. The artists, audiences, partners, volunteers and communities have all helped shape what the festival is becoming.

“For our third edition, we want to continue creating space for new voices, new ideas and meaningful experiences,” says Lorenz Herrmann, Managing Director of Busara Promotions,” said Lorenz Herrmann, Managing Director of Busara Promotions.

Artists interested in participating can apply through the festival’s application form.
