Diaspora body tours National Museum to learn Tanzanian history, culture and heritage

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation organized a special visit by a delegation from the African Diaspora Development Institute (ADDI) to the National Museum of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam, aimed at giving the visitors an opportunity to learn about Tanzania’s history, culture and heritage, while also strengthening cultural diplomacy.

The visit took place on August 26, 2026, and the delegation was led by ADDI Founder and President, Ambassador Arikana Chihombori-Quao of Zimbabwe.

Speaking during the visit, Ambassador Chihombori-Quao called on Africans to remain united, maintain solidarity and uphold peace, emphasizing that unity is essential for protecting, preserving and promoting Africa’s heritage for current and future generations.

Meanwhile, the Chief Curator of Museums and Houses of Culture, Dr Aloyce Mwambwiga, encouraged Tanzanians and international visitors to visit the National Museum to gain a deeper understanding of Tanzania’s history, culture and heritage.

Dr Mwambwiga said museums play an important role in preserving the nation’s history and culture, while providing visitors with an opportunity to better understand Tanzania’s identity and heritage.
