Tanzania, Zimbabwe move to bolster brotherly relations in strategic areas of mutual interest

HARARE: TANZANIA’s High Commissioner to Zimbabwe, Suzan Kaganda, has met with Zimbabwe’s Minister of Women’s Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Monica Mutsvangwa, at the Ministry’s offices in Harare to discuss ways of strengthening cooperation between Tanzania and Zimbabwe in various strategic areas.
During the meeting, Minister Mutsvangwa emphasised that the relationship between Tanzania and Zimbabwe is brotherly and deeply rooted in history, stemming from the liberation struggles of Southern Africa championed by the founding leaders of the two nations, the late Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and the late Robert Mugabe.
Minister Mutsvangwa commended Tanzania for its significant contribution to Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle, as well as its ongoing efforts to preserve sites and documents that carry the history of the liberation of Southern Africa.
She also praised Tanzania for its efforts to promote the use of clean energy, noting that Zimbabwe is interested in learning from and exchanging experiences with Tanzania on such programmes, particularly in addressing deforestation and environmental degradation.
For her part, High Commissioner Kaganda stressed the importance of maintaining and strengthening the existing cooperation between the two countries, alongside establishing training programmes, exchanging experiences and expertise, and signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements in strategic areas of mutual interest.
