TISEZA banks on Dira 2050 Forum in Songwe in unlocking investment opportunities in Southern Highlands

TUNDUMA: THE Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) has used the Songwe Dira 2050 Forum to promote investment opportunities available in the region, while outlining its strategies for attracting and facilitating investors in Tanzania.

The two-day forum, held on August 19 and 20, 2026, focused on building a shared understanding and perspective on the implementation of Tanzania’s National Development Vision 2050, as well as discussing strategies to accelerate economic and social development.

Speaking at the forum, TISEZA Southern Highlands Zone Manager, Fidelis Obanga, said the Authority is continuing to implement its mandate in line with the priorities of Vision 2050, including promoting productive investment and directing capital towards strategic sectors.

Obanga said TISEZA also seeks to leverage opportunities and resources available across different regions of the country as a foundation for expanding economic activities, creating employment and increasing the value of production.

He stressed that Songwe has significant investment opportunities that should be fully exploited, particularly in sectors with the potential to add value to the region’s resources and drive economic growth.

“It is important for Songwe Region to fully utilise its investment opportunities by creating an environment that enables capital to flow into sectors with strong potential to stimulate economic activities,” Obanga said.

According to TISEZA, investment in these sectors could increase the value of local resources, expand employment opportunities and strengthen the contribution of the private sector to the development of Songwe Region and Tanzania as a whole.

The Songwe Dira 2050 Forum, held under the theme “Mindset Change in Leadership and Performance Towards Vision 2050,” was officially opened on August 19, 2026, by the Minister of State in the President’s Office – Planning and Investment, Prof. Kitila Mkumbo.
