Algeria’s Sarl Anacard’Or seeks to build three modern cashew processing plants in Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Algerian cashew processing company, Sarl Anacard’Or, plans to build three modern cashew processing plants in Tanzania as part of efforts to add value to the country’s cashew production and capture a larger share of the global market.

The company’s owner and Chief Executive Officer, Walid Dib, said the investment will begin with the construction of a processing plant in Masasi District, Mtwara Region, which will be equipped with modern machinery imported from Vietnam.

Speaking during a visit by Tanzania’s Ambassador to Algeria, Mobhare Matinyi, to the company’s factory in Oran, Dib said the company had been impressed by the quality of Tanzanian cashews and had therefore decided to expand its investment in the country.

He said the company had opted to purchase cashews exclusively from Tanzania because of their quality, adding that it had already received consignments of Tanzanian cashews and had additional containers awaiting shipment to Algeria.

For his part, Ambassador Matinyi said the Tanzanian government would provide the necessary support to facilitate the investment.

He said the planned investment was expected to create jobs, increase government revenue, enhance skills development and generate additional foreign exchange earnings for Tanzania.
