BAKWATA picks Mnazi Mmoja Grounds in Dar for 2026 National Maulid celebrations on August 24
DAR ES SALAAM: National Maulid celebrations 2026 will be held in Dar es Salaam, with the main Maulid recitation scheduled for Monday night, August 24, at Mnazi Mmoja Grounds, BAKWATA has announced.
According to a statement issued by BAKWATA Secretary General Alhaj Nuhu Jabiri Mruma, the National Maulid Council will be held on Tuesday, August 25, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC), starting at 9:30am.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to be the guest of honour at the event.
BAKWATA also announced that August 25 will be a public holiday to mark Maulid celebrations.
The announcement was issued to Muslims and the public, with the Mufti and Chief Sheikh of Tanzania, Sheikh Dr Abubakar Zubeir bin Ali Mbwana, extending Maulid greetings and wishing Tanzanians a peaceful and blessed celebration.
