CONDUCIVE INVESTMENT CLIMATE: Samia reassures investors

ZANZIBAR: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has invited investors from across the world to explore Tanzania’s investment opportunities, citing its tourism potential and conducive business environment as key attractions.

She said the government was also implementing policy reforms and other measures to create a competitive investment climate and attract more businesses.

President Samia made the call yesterday while closing the 2026 Kizimkazi Festival, where she also urged Tanzanians, particularly the youth, to safeguard peace and preserve the Union between Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.

She said peace, security and stability were essential for investment, tourism, business, employment and delivery of social services to thrive.

“Investment, development, tourism, business, employment and community services cannot thrive in an environment of chaos and disruption of peace,” she said.

The President urged Tanzanians to protect the country’s peace and the Union for the benefit of current and future generations. President Samia said Zanzibar had abundant investment opportunities, supported by infrastructure and development projects aimed at creating a conducive environment for citizens and investors.

“The infrastructure and projects we are building have continued to attract citizens and investors to come and conduct their activities comfortably. So, I ask those who have seen the opportunities to come for investment; we welcome them,” she said.

She commended Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Mwinyi for creating a favourable environment for business and investment. President Samia said the Kizimkazi Festival had grown significantly since its establishment in 2016, attracting participants from Zanzibar, Mainland Tanzania and abroad while providing a platform to showcase investment and development opportunities.

She said this year’s festival had contributed to development, particularly in Southern Unguja, through various projects and activities covering health, education, water, roads, housing and other sectors.

“The 2026 festival has left a mark on the development of Tanzanian citizens, especially those in the southern part of Unguja,” she said.

President Samia commended the organisers, including the Samia Foundation, Mwanamke Initiative Foundation and other committees, for making the festival a success.

She said the foundation stones laid for various development projects during the festival reflected the importance of the event in advancing development in Kizimkazi, southern Unguja and Zanzibar as a whole. President Samia also thanked sponsors, leaders, guests, entertainment groups, journalists and citizens for participating in the festival.

She commended security and safety agencies for maintaining peace throughout the celebrations, noting that no major incidents or accidents had been reported. The President urged Tanzanians to continue supporting initiatives that promote development while protecting the country’s peace and stability.

She said safeguarding the country’s achievements was a collective responsibility, particularly among young people who would inherit the nation and its Union.
