TEMESA ordered to adopt new performance strategies to improve its efficiency in service delivery 

DODOMA: THE Tanzanian government has directed the Tanzania Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Services Agency (TEMESA) to adopt new performance strategies aimed at restoring the agency’s standing and improving efficiency in delivering services to the government and the public.

The directions were issued by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, Ambassador Eng Aisha Amour, during a meeting with TEMESA management in Dodoma noting that the Agency needed to improve its structure, operations and staff welfare to meet the objectives for which it was established.

“The government relies heavily on TEMESA to carry out the responsibilities assigned to it. Therefore, step up your efforts. We want to see a difference in the agency’s structure, performance and staff welfare,” she said.

Additionally, the PS called for regional managers to be given greater authority and responsibility so that their performance could be assessed based on results achieved in the regions under their supervision.

Furthermore, she stressed the need to address structural and operational conflicts within TEMESA, while directing management to implement staff training programmes to ensure its professionals keep pace with developments in science and technology.

She said the use of digital systems was essential in streamlining operations, improving efficiency and ensuring accurate information was available when needed.

TEMESA Chief Executive Officer, Kheri Mahimbali, said the agency was working on a new operational outlook and improving its public image.

He called for continued cooperation from stakeholders, saying the reforms were aimed at enabling TEMESA to provide faster, more efficient and reliable services to the public and its stakeholders.
