Tanzania cherishes peace and stability as pillars of its progress in investment, tourism, trade, social services
ZANZIBAR: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has called on Tanzanians to protect the country’s peace, security and stability, saying these are essential foundations for economic growth and national development.
President Samia made the call today, August 14, 2026, while concluding the Kizimkazi Festival in Zanzibar. She stressed that the progress being witnessed in investment, tourism, business and social services depends on an environment of peace and stability.
She said Tanzanians should not take the country’s peace and stability for granted, but should make every effort to safeguard them in order to ensure sustainable development.
“Investment, the development we are seeing here, tourism, business, employment and social services cannot thrive in an environment of violence and a breakdown of peace. I urge my fellow Tanzanians, particularly the youth, not to allow the peace of their country to be destroyed. Peace is everything in our lives,” Dr Samia said.
President Samia said the government’s efforts to attract investors, expand the tourism and business sectors and create employment opportunities could be undermined if the country descended into unrest or lost its stability.
She emphasized that peace is the foundation of both economic and social development, urging citizens, particularly young people, to play their part in preserving national stability and avoiding actions that could threaten peace and security.
The Kizimkazi Festival has become one of the platforms aimed at promoting culture, tourism and economic activities, bringing together participants from Tanzania and other countries.
