Parliamentary Committee begins a review of infrastructure projects, delivery of public services

DODOMA: THE Parliamentary Standing Committee on Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI) has officially commenced its sessions in Dodoma to review the implementation of government activities, including infrastructure projects and the delivery of public services.

The sessions are part of preparations for the Fourth Parliamentary Meeting, which is scheduled to begin on August 25, 2026.

During its meeting with officials from the Prime Minister’s Office–Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), the Committee received and discussed a report on the rehabilitation of roads damaged by seasonal rains in various parts of the country.

The Committee also reviewed progress in the construction of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) infrastructure, as well as plans to improve public transport services provided by the Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit (UDART).

The Committee is also expected to review various issues related to the delivery of essential public services, including strengthening water and school nutrition services, environmental conservation and the construction of sports grounds.

The employment of sports teachers in primary and secondary schools is also expected to be discussed as part of efforts to strengthen sports programmes in educational institutions.

According to the Committee’s schedule, members will also discuss education, health and environmental issues, including the construction of schools and related infrastructure, as well as strategies to address pest and vector control challenges in local government authorities.

The Committee will further assess the demand for teachers and preparations for implementing changes to the education curriculum, with the aim of evaluating the Government’s preparedness to address emerging needs in the education sector.

The sessions are expected to provide guidance on areas requiring further government intervention, particularly in improving infrastructure and ensuring that citizens receive quality public services in a timely manner.
