ICT awards put spotlight on innovation, jobs and digital service delivery

DAR ES SALAAM: DIGITAL technology solutions designed to simplify banking services and improve education systems in universities are creating employment opportunities for more than 100 young people in Tanzania while also contributing to Government revenue through taxes.

The development of these solutions is being undertaken by Mainstream Group Limited, whose Director of Operations, Pascal William, said the company has been involved in developing systems that simplify banking services as well as education management systems for universities, including Smarti Uni.

William said the company’s activities have contributed to youth employment by providing both formal and informal employment opportunities to more than 100 young people across the country, while also contributing to Government revenue through tax payments.

He said the company’s recognition at the 2026 ICT Awards reflects its continued efforts to develop technology solutions aimed at addressing challenges in different sectors of the economy.

Mainstream Group Limited won two awards at the 2026 ICT Awards, including second place in the Technology Innovation in Payment Systems category, while its Director, Deogratius Lazari Mosha, was also recognized among outstanding leaders of high-performing companies in Tanzania’s ICT sector.

The awards were presented on August 9, 2026, at Johari Rotana in Dar es Salaam during an event that brought together stakeholders from the technology and digital economy sectors. The Guest of Honour was the Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Dr Angela Kairuki.

In the Technology Innovation in Payment Systems category, Mainstream Group emerged second after competing against various institutions, including NMB Bank. The category recognizes efforts to use technology to improve and simplify financial services.

Mosha was recognized for his contribution to the development of Tanzania’s ICT sector. He was previously named Africa’s Best Innovation Leader in 2024 through the Forty Under 40 Africa Awards organized by Xodus Communications Limited.

This is the second time Mainstream Group has been recognized at Tanzania’s ICT Awards. In 2024, the company won an award in the ICT Innovation in the Financial Sector category.

The latest recognition comes months after the company won a tender to develop a membership registration system for Simba Sports Club, aimed at simplifying the process of registering members and issuing membership cards.

William said the recognition has given the company further motivation to continue developing technology systems that address challenges across different sectors, including financial services and higher education.

He said the company will continue focusing on technology solutions that improve service delivery, create employment opportunities for young people and contribute to Tanzania’s digital and economic development.
