TZ, Eswatini pledge stronger economic ties
ESWATINI: TANZANIA and Eswatini have pledged to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, education, health and agriculture as the two countries seek to strengthen their long-standing diplomatic relations.
The commitment was made during talks between Tanzania’s newly accredited Ambassador to Eswatini, CP Hamad Khamis Hamad, and King Mswati III following the presentation of his credentials at Lozitha Palace, Ezulwini, on Thursday.
Ambassador Hamad, who is based in Maputo, Mozambique, presented his credentials to King Mswati III, officially becoming the country’s representative in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Before presenting the credentials to the King, the ambassador submitted copies of the documents to Eswatini Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ms Pholile Dlamini Shakantu, in line with diplomatic procedures.
During a private meeting with King Mswati III after the ceremony, Ambassador Hamad conveyed greetings and goodwill from President Samia and reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to further strengthening the historic, friendly and brotherly relations between the two nations.
He said Tanzania would work closely with the Eswatini government to expand cooperation in key areas, including trade, investment, tourism, education, health, agriculture, culture and human capital development.
Ambassador Hamad also emphasised the importance of promoting economic diplomacy by encouraging greater participation of the private sector, increasing bilateral trade and investment, and maximising opportunities available under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
He said Tanzania and Eswatini would continue strengthening cooperation within regional and international platforms, including the Southern African Development Community (SADC), African Union (AU) and Commonwealth, to promote peace, security, regional integration and sustainable development.

For his part, King Mswati III welcomed Ambassador Hamad to Eswatini and congratulated him on his appointment by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to represent Tanzania in the kingdom.
The King said Eswatini valued its long-standing friendship and cooperation with Tanzania, which is built on African solidarity, mutual respect and shared interests.
He assured Ambassador Hamad of his government’s full support in executing his duties and expressed readiness to expand cooperation in tourism, trade, investment, education, culture and human development.
King Mswati III said Eswatini was prepared to work closely with Tanzania in implementing initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth and improving the welfare of citizens in both countries.
The two sides also underscored the need to enhance high-level visits, strengthen cooperation between government institutions and increase collaboration between the private sectors of the two countries.
They said closer cooperation in strategic areas would create more opportunities and deliver greater benefits to the people of Tanzania and Eswatini.
