Tanzania unveils benefits of Indonesian PT Indo Sultan Jaya’s project for its people

JAKARTA: THE Tanzanian Ambassador to Indonesia, Macocha Moshe Tembele, has welcomed investment by Indonesian company PT Indo Sultan Jaya, saying the project will add value to local raw materials, facilitate technology transfer, boost domestic manufacturing and create employment opportunities for Tanzanians.
During a visit to the company’s manufacturing plant in Indonesia, Ambassador Tembele toured its production facilities and observed its manufacturing processes, technological systems and product quality management standards.
He was received by the company’s Managing Director, Ahmed Sultan. The visit was also attended by Indonesia’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Tri Yogo Jatmiko, and senior officials from PT Indo Sultan Jaya.
Speaking during the visit, Mr Sultan said the company had selected Tanzania as one of its key destinations for expanding operations in Africa, citing the country’s favourable investment climate, abundant raw materials and strategic location for accessing regional markets.
He said the company had already begun implementing its agreement with Tanganyika Oils and Fats Allied and Foods Products to establish a manufacturing plant for soap, cooking oil and other related products in Kigoma Region.

According to Mr Sultan, production machinery has already started being shipped to Tanzania, while a team of technical experts responsible for equipment installation and trial production is expected to arrive in the country later this month.
For his part, Ambassador Jatmiko said the investment reflects the growing economic cooperation between Tanzania and Indonesia, adding that he would continue encouraging more Indonesian companies to explore investment opportunities in Tanzania.
The project stems from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 26, 2026, at the Embassy of Tanzania in Jakarta.
The first phase of the investment is valued at approximately 500,000 US dollars and will initially focus on the production of soap and cooking oil before expanding to manufacture other oil-based products.
