Tanzania braces for President Museveni’s official tour

DAR ES SALAAM: UGANDAN President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, is expected to arrive in Tanzania today for an official visit at the invitation of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, with the two leaders set to hold talks aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
A statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communications, Bakari Machumu said today, August 5, 2026, that the leaders will discuss ways to deepen cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, transport, defence and security, as well as other regional issues.
“The meeting is expected to build on the long-standing historical and brotherly ties between Tanzania and Uganda while opening new opportunities for collaboration for the mutual benefit of citizens of both countries,” part of the statement read.

The visit comes as the two neighbouring East African nations continue to expand cooperation in strategic economic sectors and regional integration initiatives.
