PPPC engages social media in promoting implementation of the Vision 2050

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Executive Director of the Public-Private Partnership Centre (PPPC), David Kafulila, has begun implementing President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directive by engaging social media journalists to promote a shared understanding of the implementation of Tanzania’s National Vision 2050.
Kafulila made the remarks during a meeting with digital media owners and journalists in Dar es Salaam, saying the initiative aims to educate the public on opportunities available under the Vision and ensure citizens receive accurate information about its implementation.
The engagement follows President Samia’s remarks during the launch of National Vision 2050 implementation tools at State House, Dar es Salaam, where she said Tanzania has entered a phase of practical implementation and that the time for making plans alone is over.
During the meeting, Kafulila said engaging digital media stakeholders is part of implementing President Samia’s directive requiring public institutions to provide citizens with information about opportunities under National Vision 2050 and help counter misinformation that could undermine the objectives of the plan.
He said achieving the goal of building an economy capable of producing goods and services worth 1tri US dollars over the next 25 years (2026–2050) requires close cooperation between the government, private sector, media and citizens.

“To achieve the goal of building an economy that will produce goods and services worth one 1tri US dollars over the next 25 years, there must be genuine cooperation between the government, the private sector, the media and citizens at large,” Kafulila said.
Earlier, President Samia said the private sector has been given a major role in implementing National Vision 2050, noting that it is expected to drive about 70 per cent of the Vision’s implementation over the next 25 years.
“On our part as the government, we will continue creating a conducive legal, policy and institutional environment to attract both domestic and foreign investment,” President Samia said.
The tools launched to support the implementation of National Vision 2050 include the Long-Term Development Plan, the Fourth Five-Year Development Plan (FYDP IV), the National Monitoring and Evaluation Framework, and the Vision Implementation Strategy.
National Vision 2050 seeks to establish a competitive economy driven by high-value production, innovation and inclusive development opportunities that enable citizens to benefit from economic growth.
