Dr Samia opens Africa50 Forum insisting on visionary strategies that improve people’s lives

DAR ES SALAAM: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has said Africa has reached a stage where it no longer needs to focus solely on developing new visions and strategies, but must now prioritise implementing projects that deliver tangible results and improve people’s lives.

Speaking while opening the Africa50 Annual General Shareholders Meeting and the Infra for Africa Forum in Dar es Salaam today, August 5, 2026,  President Samia said the continent already has various development frameworks and strategies in place, making implementation the most pressing priority.

She said the forum’s theme, “A Decade of Delivery: From Vision to Implementation,” reflects the stage Africa has reached, where plans and aspirations must be translated into practical projects that generate meaningful benefits for citizens.

“Our people do not measure progress by the statements we make, but by tangible results such as better roads, reliable energy, efficient ports, railways, digital infrastructure and other facilities that improve their daily lives,” President Samia said.

She noted that through the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and national development strategies, Africa has already established ambitious goals for economic and social transformation.

President Samia said achieving those goals will depend on sustained investment in infrastructure, describing the sector as the foundation for expanding trade, attracting investment, enhancing economic competitiveness and strengthening regional integration across the continent.

She reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to working closely with African governments, private investors and development institutions to accelerate the implementation of strategic infrastructure projects that connect people, industries and markets, thereby supporting faster economic growth across Africa.
