UWT hails 1.7bn/- oxygen plant at Mafinga hospital
DAR ES SALAAM: CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi Women’s Wing (UWT) has hailed the sixth phase government for constructing a modern 1.7bn/- medical oxygen plant at Mafinga Town Hospital in Iringa Region, describing it as a major boost to emergency and specialised healthcare services.
The remark was made during a visit by the women’s wing leaders to the hospital to inspect the implementation of government-funded development projects aimed at improving healthcare delivery.
Speaking during the visit, Special Seats Member of Parliament Lucy Mwakyembe, who represented UWT Chair – person Mary Chatanda, said the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan has continued to invest heavily in the health sector to ensure wananchi receive quality medical services closer to their communities.
She said the oxygen plant is among the strategic investments that will strengthen emergency and specialised healthcare services in Mafinga and neighbouring areas by ensuring a reliable supply of medical oxygen.
“The project demonstrates the government’s commitment to strengthening the health sector and ensuring health faciliies are adequately equipped to provide essential services,” Ms Mwakyembe said.

She noted that the facility will help address shortages of medical oxygen, particularly for patients requiring emergency treatment and critical care, while improving the efficiency of healthcare delivery.
The UWT delegation also expressed satisfaction with the progress of other development projects being implemented at the hospital, saying they reflect the government’s continued commitment to improving public health infrastructure.
The leaders urged health – care workers to maintain high standards of service delivery and ensure the new investments are properly maintained to benefit present and future generations.
The visit formed part of UWT’s ongoing programme to assess the implementation of government development projects and encourage continued investment in sectors that directly improve people’s welfare.
