Tanga braces for the 2026 Education, Skills and Innovation Week in Mid-August

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adolf Mkenda, has announced that the 2026 National Education, Skills and Innovation Week will be held from August 15 to 16 at the Usagara Secondary School sports grounds in Tanga City.

Professor Mkenda said the event aims to bring together various stakeholders in the education, skills and innovation sectors to discuss, showcase and assess the contribution of these areas in driving national development.

He said the event will bring together several ministries, higher learning institutions, research and development organisations, technical colleges, teacher training colleges, primary and secondary schools, technology companies, the private sector and development partners.

According to the minister, the celebrations will provide an opportunity for citizens to view research projects, innovations and various technologies developed locally, particularly those created by Tanzanian youth.

Professor Mkenda added that the platform will help connect innovators with investors in order to support the growth, improvement and commercialisation of locally produced products and technologies.

He said this year’s theme is “Education, Skills and Innovation: A Pathway to Achieving the National Development Vision 2050.”

The event will feature innovation and technology exhibitions, conferences, seminars and various discussions aimed at developing joint strategies to strengthen education, enhance skills development, reduce reliance on imported technologies and promote sustainable development in Tanzania.

The 2026 National Education, Skills and Innovation Week is expected to serve as an important platform for showcasing Tanzania’s capacity to use education, knowledge and technology as key tools for achieving national development goals.
