TADB bolsters its capacity to serve farmers with 452.16bn/-increase of its capital base

DODOMA: THE Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has increased its capital base to 452.16bn/-, significantly strengthening its capacity to provide financial services to farmers, livestock keepers and fishers across the country.

TADB Managing Director, Frank Nyabundege, disclosed the development while briefing journalists in Dodoma today, July 30, 2026, on the bank’s performance during the 2025/26 financial year and its strategic outlook for 2026/27.

Nyabundege said the bank’s capital stood at 60bn/- before the Sixth Phase Government assumed office. In 2021, the government injected an additional 208bn/-, raising the capital base to 268bn/-.

He said the government further strengthened the bank’s financial position in 2024 through a 174.16bn/- capital injection financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB), followed by an additional 10bn/- contribution in 2025.

According to Nyabundege, the successive capital injections have increased the bank’s capital to 452.16bn/-, enabling TADB to expand access to affordable financing and accelerate investment in agriculture, livestock and fisheries.

He said the strengthened capital base will enable the bank to play a greater role in supporting agricultural transformation, improving productivity and advancing the country’s food security and economic development agenda.
