Tanzania and Angola unveil priorities in their renewed bilateral ties

LUANDA: TANZANIA and Angola have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations as the Third Session of the Tanzania-Angola Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) entered its second day, with senior officials reviewing progress made in implementing previous agreements and charting new areas of cooperation.

The two-day meeting, running from July 29 to 30, opened at the senior officials’ level, bringing together delegations from both countries to assess the implementation of resolutions adopted during the Second JPC held in Zanzibar in 2024.

Speaking at the closing of the senior officials’ session, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Said Shaib Mussa, stressed the importance of ensuring that all resolutions agreed upon during the meeting are effectively implemented.

He said the successful implementation of the agreed commitments would further strengthen the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Tanzania and Angola.

Through the Joint Permanent Commission, the two countries are expected to deepen cooperation in a wide range of sectors, including diplomacy, defence and security, trade and investment, social development, health, education, science, technology and innovation.

The ministerial session of the commission is scheduled for July 30, during which ministers from both countries will consider and adopt the report prepared by senior officials, endorse the resolutions of the Third JPC and provide strategic direction for the implementation of new areas of bilateral cooperation between Tanzania and Angola.
