Mwanza envisions epic Nane Nane Exhibition heading to its official opening this weekend

MWANZA: THE Chairman of the West Lakes Region Farmers Exhibition’s Organizing Committee, Mr Said Mtanda, has urged farmers to increase their understanding of market needs before starting production in order to increase productivity, crop value and product competitiveness.

Also the Regional Commissioner of Mwanza,  Mr Mtanda, made the call today ahead of the 2026 Agricultural Exhibition and Farmers’ Festival (Nane Nane) to be held from August 1 to 8 at Nyamhongolo grounds in Ilemela Municipality in Mwanza region.

Mr Mtanda also said the exhibition is being organized by Mwanza Region in collaboration with Geita Region, aiming to provide farmers, livestock keepers, fishermen and stakeholders in the agricultural, livestock and fisheries sectors with the opportunity to learn new technologies, exchange experiences and strengthen the markets for their products.

 He said the exhibition is an important platform to showcase innovations, best practices in production, connect producers and buyers as well as provide extension, financial and commercial services in one place.

According to  Mtanda, this year’s theme is “Know the Market, Increase Productivity, Implement Vision 2050,” which emphasizes the importance of producers understanding market needs before starting production in order to increase productivity, product value and product competitiveness.

He explained that the theme is also in line with the National Development Vision 2050 which aims to build a modern economy based on technology, innovation, value addition to products and private sector participation.

Mr Mtanda said the exhibition is expected to be officially launched on August 2 this year by Geita Regional Commissioner, Martine Shigella at Nyamhongolo grounds starting at 7:00 pm.

Mr Mtanda called on exhibitors, traders, research and training institutions, financial institutions and citizens to come out in large numbers to participate in the exhibition to learn, build business partnerships and benefit from the various opportunities that will be available during the exhibition.

He said that for this year, expected participants include 14 Councils from Mwanza and Geita regions, eight financial institutions, 30 government institutions, 15 agricultural equipment companies, tourism companies and zoos as well as approximately 614 farmers, herders and fishermen who will present various products and technologies.
