Tanzanian envoy in Ethiopia for today’s 49th AU session

ADDIS ABABA: THE Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Said Shaib Mussa, has arrived in Ethiopia to participate in the 49th Session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council, scheduled to take place in Addis Ababa from July 28 to 29, 2026.
Ambassador Mussa is representing the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, at the meeting, which brings together ministers and senior officials from AU member states.
Upon arrival at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, Ambassador Mussa was received by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Head of Protocol, Ambassador Melaku Bedada.
Ahead of the meeting, the Deputy Permanent Secretary held discussions with the Tanzanian delegation that will participate in the session at the Tanzania Embassy in Addis Ababa, as part of preparations and deliberations on key issues to be presented during the meeting.

The 49th AU Executive Council meeting is expected to consider various reports and recommendations submitted by the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC), as well as make decisions on policy, administrative and financial matters concerning the continental organisation.
The meeting will also review and adopt the African Union budget for 2027, a move aimed at facilitating the implementation of programmes and activities of AU institutions in the coming period.
The session forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation among AU member states in areas of development, good governance and the implementation of the continent’s development agenda.
