Fire damages Bigwa Sisters School dormitories

MOROGORO: A fire has damaged parts of the students’ dormitories at Bigwa Sisters Secondary School, a Catholic Church-owned institution in Morogoro Region.

The Daily News Digital reporters at the scene witnessed firefighters from the Fire and Rescue Force battling the blaze and working to prevent it from spreading to other school buildings.

Speaking at the scene, Acting Morogoro Regional Fire and Rescue Commander Rehema Mtoo Hamis said firefighters managed to contain the fire in time, preventing more extensive damage.

She said that, as of the time of reporting, no deaths or injuries had been recorded.

Meanwhile, Bigwa Barabarani Street Chairperson Ana Nyandusi said residents responded swiftly after the fire broke out, demonstrating strong community solidarity by joining rescue efforts and helping to minimise the impact of the incident.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established, and investigations are underway to determine what sparked the blaze.
