105 years of CPC reflect visionary leadership, accountability, China’s development success

DODOMA: TANZANIANS have described the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) as a reflection of accountability, integrity, visionary leadership, policy consistency and a strong commitment to improving people’s livelihoods, qualities that have enabled China to transform from a poor nation into one of the world’s leading economies with advanced technological capabilities.

The remarks were made during a roundtable discussion organised by the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania under the theme: “A Century of Glory: The Communist Party of China through Tanzanian Eyes – Celebrating the 105th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC.”

The event brought together prominent politicians, experienced diplomats, scholars and military leaders who discussed the CPC’s journey in building modern China and the longstanding cooperation between Tanzania and China.

Speaking at the roundtable, Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Chen Mingjian said the event was organised to highlight the CPC’s remarkable journey in achieving development milestones and strengthening strategic cooperation between Tanzania and China.

“We organised this roundtable to reflect on the glorious journey of the CPC in achieving remarkable progress and promoting sustainable strategies and strategic cooperation between Tanzania and China,” Ambassador Chen said.

She said China’s remarkable achievements today are largely attributed to the leadership of the CPC over the past 105 years, noting that the Party has played a central role in mobilising and guiding the Chinese people in nation-building by integrating Marxist and Leninist principles with China’s development path.

“Over the past 105 years, the CPC has achieved remarkable success. The Party started with only 50 members in 1921 and has grown into one of the world’s largest political parties, with more than 100 million members, leading a nation of over 1.4 billion people,” she said.

Ambassador Chen said that under CPC leadership, China has overcome numerous challenges, including the fight against extreme poverty, where millions of rural citizens were lifted out of poverty through targeted development programmes.

She added that the 105-year journey of the CPC has opened the way for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, through efforts aimed at building a modern country, promoting innovation, strengthening international cooperation and sharing development experiences with other nations.

CCM congratulates CPC on development achievements

The Secretary of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) responsible for Political Affairs and International Relations (SUKI), Rabia Abdalla Hamid, said CCM congratulates the CPC for its achievements over more than a century.

She said China’s remarkable progress has been driven by effective CPC leadership, which has significantly reduced poverty, strengthened industrialisation, advanced technology, improved education and healthcare systems and built a competitive global economy.

“We appreciate the important work being carried out by the CPC in China and Tanzania through various programmes, including leadership exchange visits and training programmes for CCM cadres and government officials. This demonstrates the strength and effectiveness of the Party,” she said.

JWTZ: China remains a valuable partner

The Chief of Medical Services of the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF), Major General Amri Mwami, congratulated China on the 105th anniversary of the CPC, saying the Tanzanian military values the strong cooperation between the two countries.

He said Tanzania has benefited from the partnership through military training, support programmes and the exchange of defence and security technologies.

“TPDF values the diplomatic cooperation between Tanzania and China, which has brought significant benefits, including training opportunities, military assistance and defence technology support,” he said.

Ndumbaro: China is a true development partner Songea Urban Member of Parliament, Dr Damas Ndumbaro, said the 105-year journey of the CPC demonstrates the Party’s commitment to economic transformation and national development.

He noted that China has become the world’s second-largest economy and has achieved remarkable progress in improving the living standards of its citizens.

“China is a true friend of Tanzania. Today is an important occasion to celebrate the great work achieved by the CPC in China and its contribution to other countries, including Tanzania. I am a witness to the importance of the TAZARA Railway, which remains a symbol of our friendship,” he said.

Tanzanians praise China’s development experience

Dodoma Special Seats Member of Parliament, Dr Neema Peter Majule, said China’s achievements demonstrate the importance of visionary leadership, accountability and commitment to people-centred development.

She said China has shown the world that long-term planning, investment in human resources, science and technology, as well as consistent policies, can bring significant economic and social transformation.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Centre for International Policy Africa (CIP Africa), Ambassador Omary Mjenga, said the 105-year journey of the CPC highlights the importance of visionary leadership, long-term development strategies and policies focused on improving citizens’ welfare.

He said China’s experience provides valuable lessons for developing countries on the importance of national planning, strengthening international cooperation and using innovation as a driver of economic growth.

Shimbo: China proves nations can transform

Former Tanzanian Ambassador to China, Retired Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Shimbo, said China has made remarkable progress over the past century in areas including economic development, science and technology, industrialisation, infrastructure and improving citizens’ welfare.

He said Tanzania-China relations are built on a long-standing friendship and have continued to benefit both countries through cooperation in various development sectors.

MJNLS: CPC offers leadership lessons

The Principal of the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School (MJNLS), Professor Marcellina Chijoriga, said China’s achievements provide important lessons for developing countries on the importance of having a clear development vision, discipline in implementing plans and prioritising citizens’ interests.

She said Tanzania-China cooperation has continued to grow in leadership training, research, trade and economic development.

“Our Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School was built with support from China through the CPC. The 105-year journey demonstrates that leadership based on national unity, innovation and sustainable development can become a foundation for major social and economic transformation,” she said.

Butiku: Tanzania and China share historic friendship

The Chairman of the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Foundation, Mzee Joseph Butiku, said Tanzania and China share a historic friendship established by the founding leaders of the two nations, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and Chairman Mao Zedong.

He said he has witnessed many milestones in the relationship, including the construction of the TAZARA Railway.

“China and Tanzania are brotherly friends. The 105 years of the CPC represent a journey of transformation, from overcoming major challenges to becoming a strong nation in industry, technology and economic development,” he said.

The Communist Party of China was founded on July 1, 1921, in Shanghai.

Over its 105- year history, the CPC highlights achievements including the establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, economic reforms, poverty reduction, scientific and technological advancement, major infrastructure development and strengthening China’s role on the global stage.
