Kilosa sees benefits of the improved health, governance infrastructure

KILOSA: RESIDENTS of Kilosa District are expected to benefit from improved healthcare services, stronger local governance and enhanced environmental conservation following support aimed at accelerating the completion of key community infrastructure projects.

The projects include the construction of the Nyamvisi Village Office, the Ruaha Village Dispensary Laboratory and a patients’ waiting area at Kidodi Health Centre. Once completed, the facilities are expected to improve access to public services and reduce challenges faced by residents in seeking healthcare and administrative services.

The village office will strengthen local local government operations and improve service delivery, while the laboratory at Ruaha Village Dispensary will enhance diagnostic services, enabling patients to access medical tests closer to home.

At Kidodi Health Centre, the patients’ waiting area is expected to ease overcrowding and provide a more conducive environment for people seeking treatment, particularly pregnant women, children and the elderly.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Kilosa District Commissioner Shaka Hamdu Shaka said collaboration between the government, communities and the private sector remains essential in delivering sustainable development and improving the quality of life of citizens.

He said investments in health and public infrastructure contribute to strengthening essential services and support the country’s broader socio-economic development goals.

Nyamvisi Village Chairperson Yohana Kibasa said the support would help fast-track completion of the village office and called on other stakeholders to support community-driven development initiatives.

Dr Siriana Madumla of Kidodi Health Centre said the construction materials would play a significant role in speeding up the completion of the patients’ waiting area, allowing the facility to serve more patients in a safer and more comfortable environment.

The initiative also includes the distribution of 150 tree seedlings, which are expected to support environmental conservation efforts and promote greener communities.

The support was provided by Kilombero Sugar Company Limited, which donated 300 bags of cement, 300 pieces of 12mm steel reinforcement bars and 150 tree seedlings under its community investment programme aimed at supporting locally identified development projects. Company officials said the initiative reflects its commitment to working with communities and the government to improve public services and promote sustainable development.
